About Douzi

Beans, from China

豆子 (Douzi) is Chinese for bean - which is also, coincidentally, what we sell: beans, from China. We're the first brand in America built entirely around that idea. Douzi is a single-origin coffee brand rooted in Yunnan, China: high-altitude farms and terraced hillsides in a growing region most people outside China have never tasted.

Yunnan's mountains have grown some of the world's most storied teas for over a thousand years - pu'er tea is named for one of the same regions our coffee comes from. Grown on those same misted hillsides, the coffee carries a character all its own: delicate and clean, gently sweet, with a finish closer to fine tea than dark roast.

We work directly with growers across Yunnan's coffee regions and roast in New York. Most roasters carry Yunnan as one option among dozens. This is our whole business, and that focus is what makes us good at it.

豆子，恰好就是我们所卖的东西：来自中国的咖啡豆。我们是美国第一个完全围绕这个念头建立的品牌。Douzi 是一个扎根云南的单一产地咖啡品牌：高海拔庄园、层层梯田，一个中国以外的人几乎从未尝过的产区。

What is Yunnan coffee?

Yunnan is a mountainous province in southwest China that grows over 98% of the country's coffee. Its high-altitude farms produce specialty-grade arabica with a clean, sweet, tea-like character - and top lots now score alongside coffees from Ethiopia and Colombia in international competition.
